Raymond Everett Hixson, 82, of Eudora, Kansas passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
“Ray”, as he was known by his family and friends was born on August 26, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lawrence Ray and Isabelle (Vickers) Hixson. He attended West Junior High School. He worked as a truck driver for a grocery store chain and as a delivery driver for the Liberty Fruit Company. He continued to work as a machinist for Highline Plastics Company where he retired.
He married the love of his life Becky Ann Kent on March 10, 1959. Together they raised their four children Tim, Danny, Patty and Tammy. Ray enjoyed working on puzzles and watching his favorite teams, KU, Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers play ball. He will be sadly missed.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Isabelle Hixson, and his son-in-law Brian Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Becky Hixson of the home, Tim Hixson and his wife Pauline of De Soto, Kansas, Danny Hixson and his wife Malita of De Soto, Kansas, Patty Jones of De Soto, Kansas and Tammy Norton and her husband Greg of Paola, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren Traci Wolf (Walt), Brandon Hixson, Brandie Jones (Robert Taylor), Lisa Hixson, Katy Hixson, Kristen Hixson and Isabel Hixson. Ray is also survived by his sister Rosemary Clay of De Soto, Kansas.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Interment in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens Shawnee, Kansas. Visitation 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 18th at the funeral home.
