Shannon Nelson

Shannon was born September 24th, 1974, in Galesburg, Illinois to Dennis and Ann Nelson. Shannon attended Olathe schools growing up. On August 10th, 1996, Shannon was united in marriage to Rebecca Diane Robinson in Olathe, Kansas. Shannon worked in the waste water treatment industry straight out of high school.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sheila. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Nelson of Olathe; his children Joshua (Gracie) Nelson of Gardner, KS, Caleb Nelson of Olathe, KS, Emmaly Nelson, of Olathe, KS; and three grandchildren, Wyatt, Braylynn, and Bentley.

Shannon liked cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, the Kansas Jayhawks and his children at their sporting events. He was an active member of the bowling community in the Kansas City area. Shannon also enjoyed camping, hosting barbecues, karaoke, and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:00 pm followed by a service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, on Friday, March 29th, 2024, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olathe, Kansas. Following services, a reception will be held at Mission Bowl, in Olathe, KS from 3:00 - 5:00 pm.
