Sharon Murry was born June 6, 1941. She was the only child of Chester William Gwin and Helen Wilhelmina Pankow. Sharon grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She went to college at Central Missouri State and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She married Kenneth Murry and they adopted a son, Chet, to complete their family in September, 1968. She and Ken divorced in October, 1987.
She was so proud of Cassi, her granddaughter. She talked about her non-stop. When Cassi had a son, Mack, she was constantly talking about him! She was a very proud mom, grandmother and great- grandmother.
If you knew Sharon at all, you knew she loved her Kansas Jayhawks: Danny Manning (by far her favorite), Frank Mason III, Sherron Collins, Wilt Chamberlain, Joel Imbiid, Mario Chalmers and Jo Jo White. She always remembered what they were good at and how they contributed to the success of the team. (Roy Williams and Bill Self riveled for the best coaches she’s ever witnessed!)
Sharon loved her family, friends, her church family, and she loved her second family in Western Kansas.
Sharon had some health struggles the last few years, but persevered. A few bouts of cancer were difficult, but she got through them all.
Sharon loved spending holidays with the Lewis’ and cherished times together eating some of the “best food she’s ever eaten!”
She had a good sense of humor, loved life, country and most importantly, her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by Chester Murry, Cassi Adams, and Mack Adams.
