Terry was born on April 6, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa, to James Edward O’Herron (March 1, 1932 – May 12, 2024) and Hilaria Ann O’Herron (Engelen) (March 13, 1932 – February 11, 2020).
She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Settje; her children, Colby and Julie Powers (Seth); and her eight cherished grandchildren: Max, Charles, Sophia, Ruby, Elizabeth, Ezekiel, Gloria, and Adilee.
Terry was the second of five siblings and is survived by Jane Bierl (Randy), Scott O’Herron (Amy), Tom O’Herron (Marion), and Kelly Normoyle (Cameron).
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Terry married her husband on March 24, 1984, in Omaha, Nebraska. Their 42 years together were marked by deep faith, enduring love, and a shared devotion to family, others, and the Catholic Church.
Throughout their marriage, Terry and her family lived in Lincoln, Nebraska; Downingtown, Pennsylvania; Lakeville, Minnesota; and for the past 28 years, Olathe, Kansas. She worked in accounting for several companies, where she built lasting friendships with those she encountered.
Terry’s faith was central to her life. Each morning you could find her in her prayer room, reading Scripture or faith-based books, with a cup of coffee in hand. She found great joy in knitting baby blankets for her grandchildren and loved ones, caring for her home and garden, and taking daily walks with her loved ones. Evenings frequently included praying the Rosary with family and friends. She was known for saying, “Pretend I am with you,” when someone was leaving her home, a reflection of her constant love and care.
She had a thoughtful and compassionate spirit, always putting others first—except, perhaps, on April Fool’s Day. Known for her clever pranks, she delighted in keeping family and friends on their toes from morning until night. Her favorite time of year, however, was Christmas, when her children and grandchildren gathered to celebrate and spend the night together.
A faithful member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe since 1998, Terry generously gave her time to numerous parish ministries. She led the Guardian Angels Prayer Group. She volunteered with the Starfish Foundation (Pans in Vans), helped count weekly Mass offerings, and enjoyed participating in her church book club. She was a loyal and devoted friend who deeply valued the relationships she built throughout her life. Her compassion for others was a true gift from God—and her greatest gift back to Him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 30, 2026, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe. A private family inurnment will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Catholic Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
