Born on July 25, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri, Tracy was the beloved daughter of Phyllis and Richard E. Strahle Sr. She graduated early from Raytown South High School in 1980 and began her career at Raytown Bank. On October 5, 1982, she welcomed her son, Austin James Strahle-Lockler, into the world — one of the greatest joys of her life.
Tracy went on to work for many years at the UMKC School of Dentistry before continuing her career with several dental practices. With a strong interest in biotechnology, she later pursued studies at Johnson County Community College in that field. Tracy eventually worked as a laboratory technician and scientist with Catalent Pharmaceutical Solutions until her retirement in July 2024.
Above all else, Tracy deeply loved her family, friends, and animals. She had a beautiful and gentle soul, paired with a quiet strength that touched those who knew her. She enjoyed scrapbooking, creating photo albums, and making crafts for herself and others whenever she had the chance. Over the years, she also loved traveling, camping, and boating with her lifelong friend and longtime partner, Mark Heisey. Tracy was an enthusiastic supporter of local sports teams and treasured the memories made with those closest to her. For the last 11 years, Tracy lovingly cared for her adopted feral cat, Sox, who became her cherished fur baby and constant companion.
Tracy is survived by her son, Austin James; granddaughter, Sage; longtime partner, Mark Heisey; sister, Teresa (Duane) Dalton; brother, Richard (Janet) Strahle; nephew, Aaron Strahle; niece, Ariel Strahle (Doni Buttman); great-niece, Imelda Mae; and step-nephew, Jeff Dalton.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rose Marie Killian; mother, Phyllis Marie (Strahle) Jansen; and father, Richard E. Strahle Sr.
Tracy will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, devotion to family, and the warmth she brought to the lives of everyone around her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 16, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 105 East Loula St., Olathe, KS 66210. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
