

Edward W. Sapp of Old Bridge died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his home with his loving and devoted wife Agnes by his side. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in December. He was predeceased by his father, Edward (1957) and mother, Inez (1997).
Ed was born in Dover, NJ and raised in Denville, before moving to Old Bridge, NJ 50 years ago. Ed was an athletic and academic standout and was salutatorian of his Rockaway High School graduating class. He served in the Korean War from 1953-1956 as Staff Sgt. in the Air Force. He attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology and graduated in 1960 with a degree in civil engineering. After working for Dupont, Witco and Amerada Hess Corporation, he founded and was president of UNI Engineering Inc., Hightstown, NJ. From a small office with 3 employees, he built the company into 60 employees and 2 office buildings. He retired in 2003 and his son Ed now runs the company.
He was a member of Chi Epsilon, American Legion 72 of Old Bridge, Nation Fire Protection Association, American Society of Civil Engineers and a long time member of Forsgate Country Club. Ed was an avid golfer and reader - especially of American history - and a model ship builder.
He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren life stories and life lessons and kept a captive audience when sharing his wisdom. His family enjoyed his company and loved spending time with him either in Old Bridge or summers at Long Beach Island. He also enjoyed family and friends at the Pocono Mountain House, where he enjoyed hiking, swimming, outdoor cooking, sledding and fun times.
In addition to his wife Agnes, he is survived by his son Edward J. Sapp and wife Daria of Monmouth Junction, NJ, daughter Stephanie Walkowski and husband Dr. Edward Walkowski of Dalton, PA, son Jason and wife Cindy of Ewing, NJ, sister Joan and husband James Melchior of Chenago Forks, NY, grandson Dr. Brian Walkowski of Johnstown, PA, granddaughter Heather Walkowski of Blue Bell, PA, grandson Justin Sapp of Monmouth Junction, NJ, and many nieces, nephews. He also leaves behind a long list of good golfing buddies.
