
John “Jack” Gorman of Sayreville, NJ entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. He was born in NYC, NY to the late Michael and Eileen (Keane) Gorman and lived in the Bronx, NY before moving to Sayreville 40 years ago.
Jack was a switching technician for Verizon in Manhattan, NY for 28 years and retired in 1991. He was the Chief Steward for many years of his union CWA Local 1101 (Communications Workers of America) protecting the jobs and welfare of his fellow employees. After his retirement, Jack worked as a Juvenile Detention Officer for Middlesex County Corrections and volunteered for the Middlesex County Probation Program. While he was a caring co-worker and friend, his passion was his family, whom he adored.
Jack is predeceased by his beloved brothers & sisters Thomas Gorman, Maureen Holda, Robert Gorman and Barbara Gorman. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Mary Ann (Hofmann) Gorman; his cherished daughter Laura Eileen Gorman; his step-son Anthony Elwood; his devoted brothers & sisters Susan Natoli, Michael J. (and his wife Dale) Gorman, Jr., Raymond (and his wife Kathleen) Gorman and his adored God-daughter Barbara Ladyhin, sisters in law Sheila and Gaynor Hofmann and brother in law John Hofmann. Jack also leaves behind many neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30am Monday, April 20, 2015 at Our Lady of Victories Parish 42 Main Street Sayreville, NJ 08872. A committal service will follow in New Calvary Cemetery 490 Washington Road Parlin, NJ 08859.
