Julio Angel Baez, Jr., 56, of Perth Amboy died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Although born in Puerto Rico, he moved to New Jersey where he resided in Elizabeth before moving to Perth Amboy 12 years ago.
Julio lived his life as a proud US Army veteran but those close to him knew him to be much more. Activities such as fishing, hands-on work, reading poetry, adding to his DVD collection, and listening to music were important in his day-to-day life. Julio’s love of spending time with family and watching movies characterized his life the most as those close to him can recall his enthusiasm for corny jokes and sharing suggestions about the latest blockbuster with the ones he loved. Julio was incredibly passionate about helping others and his work was emulated in his time working as a drug counselor and the establishment of the El Milagro Chapter of NA in Newark, New Jersey.
Julio is predeceased by his cherished wife Sandra (1984) of 9 years, his dear father Julio Angel Baez, Sr. (2002) and brother Luis Baez (1995). He is survived by his dearest mother Tomasita O. (Alicea) Baez, his loving companion of 12 years Edna Carrasquillo, his devoted children Derek (and Felecia) McLean, Julio N. Baez and Ondia (and Anthony) Wade, his dear brothers Ramon A. Baez and Eddie Baez and his adored grandchildren: Eric Wade, Tionna Wade, Bria Wade, Terrod McLean, Anthony J. Wade and Sanaa Mclean. Julio also leaves behind his beloved dog, Max.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home 3377 Hwy 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857 with Celebration of Life Service at 8 pm.
