
Mary V. Gannon, 66, of Old Bridge died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in New York City, she lived in Queens, NY before moving to Old Bridge 31 years ago.
Mary completed her undergraduate degree at St. John’s University in Queens, NY and continued her education completing two Masters Degrees; a Masters in Communication from New York University in New York City, NY and a Masters in Library Science from St. John’s University in Queens, NY.
Mary was a reference librarian with expertise in government documents. She worked as a legislative analyst with Commerce Clearing House, Inc. and as a librarian with Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLC; First Boston Corporation, Dewey Ballantine, Kean University and the East Brunswick and Old Bridge public libraries. She retired from the Old Bridge School district in 2012.
Mary was a former member of the Old Bridge Public Library Board of Directors, a member of Old Bridge Public Library Craft Club, and a volunteer with the Caring Listener program at Carpenter School, Old Bridge.
She was a member of the Sierra Club and The Art Alliance in Red Bank. She was an award-winning jewelry and craft maker whose work was exhibited at Middlesex and Monmouth County art and craft shows.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years Robert F. Gannon; her loving children Erin Gannon Maniar and Kaitlin M. Gannon; her cherished granddaughter, Savannah Sage Maniar; and her dear brothers and sisters, Edward Conway of Minneapolis, MN, Sheila Rhoades of Oak Ridge, NJ, Rita Reisman of Nutley, NJ, and Michael Conway of Orlando, FL.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home 3377 US Hwy 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015, 10:30am at St Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge, NJ. Burial to follow Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
