He was the son of Ernest Franklin and Virginia (Gibbs) Farmer.
Barney was a US Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War era. He retired after 42 years of service at Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Barney is preceded in death by his wife Brenda (Green), parents and brother Michael Farmer. He is survived by his three children Kenton Farmer and wife Corinne, Teresa Wyss and husband Lance, and Katherine Pierce and husband Matthew, five grandchildren, brothers Alvesia Farmer and wife Barbara Ann, Chris Farmer, Mark Farmer, Bruce Farmer and wife Brenda, Tracy Farmer and wife Pattie, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends for Barney on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM, officiated by Dr. Judson Hays.
