Benny Vernon Martin

Benny Vernon Martin, age 77, of Old Hickory, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Benny was born on September 7, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee. Benny worked in guest services in the hospitality industry. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves where he worked as a medic in the 1960's. He also was the recipient of a Purple Heart.

Benny was a Christian and attended Goodlettsville Southern Methodist Church. He was an exceptional historian and many of the joys in his life included golfing, cooking and grilling, the beach, listening to music especially Jimmy Buffett, dancing and having fun and making people laugh. He truly was the life of the party. He was a wonderful, funny man that will be truly missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.

Benny is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Grace Mildred Byrd Martin, by his sister Elegina Marshall and his former wife Stephanie Martin. He is survived by his daughters Kristen Martin Hall and Stacy Martin, and by the love of his life granddaughter Jaycie Hall, brother-in-law Barry Cauthron, his niece Cherri Means, by his longtime companion Kathy Rogers and many other extended family members.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all the workers at Cadence at Rivergate and HighPoint Hospice for their care and comfort during Mr. Martin's time with them.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the home of Cherri Means, 4152 Brandywine Pointe Boulevard, Old Hickory, TN 37138. We hope you can join us to celebrate Benny's life well-lived. - Kristen, Jack, Stacy, Kathy, and family.
