Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Old Hickory Church of Christ. The Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM with Don Loftis officiating at the church. Following the service, the final resting place will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, Old Hickory, Tennessee with Greg, Jeff, Chris, Brad and Bradford Gaines serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers William Lee Oldham III, Elliston Vinson Oldham and Bill White.
Bettye Ann (Oldham) was born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 12, 1935. She graduated from Chattanooga Central High School in 1953 and was voted Most Popular of her Senior Class. Bettye also was in the Anchors Aweigh Social Club, R.O.T.C. Sponsor and Military Queen. Following graduation, she lived in Chattanooga where she worked at Provident Insurance Co. Her love for fashion lead her to modeling for local clothing stores and she was runner-up in the Miss Chattanooga contest.
She married Harold Graden Gaines on February 26,1956; they were married for 65 wonderful years.
Bettye soon developed a love for antiques and opened her own business selling antiques and working estate sales. She loved the Lord, all her family, and her many friends with all her heart. She was a loyal and active member of Old Hickory Church of Christ…which she deeply cherished.
Bettye is survived by her brothers William Lee Oldham III ( Kirby) and Elliston Vinson Oldham; sister Peggy White (Bill); her sons : Gregory Scott Gaines (Gina), Jeffrey Allan Gaines, Christopher Randall Gaines (Carol), Bradford Lee Gaines (Telisha); her 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Graden Gaines, son Harold Graden Gaines Jr. "Bucky", her mother Etta Aleene Vinson, her father William Lee Oldham Jr., her brother Ray Oldham, and her grandsons Justin Scott Gaines and Graden Alexander Gaines.
In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or Walk 4 Water/Healing Hands International.
