Bill E Finchum

Bill was the oldest of 16 children. He attended the University of Tennessee but left to start his own construction company. He was the president of ABC Contractors. His company erected several bridges across the state of Tennessee. He also erected Thompson Boling Arena, the original Nissan Plant in Smyrna, Tennessee Performing Arts Center and too many other buildings to list.

Bill loved to hunt and fish. In his later years, he loved going to field trials with his beloved English Setter bird dogs.

His favorite places to visit were Alaska and Hawaii. He took numerous trips to both. His hunting adventures also took him to many other areas including Argentina.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Dean, Jim, David and John. His sisters, Agnes Lewis, Becky Mathes, Carol Rhoades and Vivian Smedley.

Bill is survived by the love of his life, Betty. They were married 61 years this past April. His children, Donna (Mark) Lonsway and Chris (Betty) Finchum, grandchildren, Megan (Matt) McCann, Mel (Maggie) Lonsway and Carrie (Adam) Wright. Great grandchildren, Colton and Cooper Wright and Finley McCann, Sisters; Patricia Tucker (Ray), Diana Brock (Orville), Jo Lea Hayes, Stephanie Carver (Danny), brothers; Thales "T.O." Finchum (Kate), Jerry finchum (Bobbi Jo) and Terry Finchum.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00. Funeral will be Thursday at 1:00.

Pallbearers: Mel Lonsway, Matt McCann, Randy Thompson, Bubba Jennings, Jason Sanders and Boots Sanders.

Honorary Pallbearers: Jack Hollingsworth, Bill Bryson, Joe Buffler, Tommy Poole, Phillip Eatherly and Butch Earheart.
