Billy Ray Campbell of Hermitage, TN passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the age of 77. Billy was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Reba Campbell, and brothers Lonnie and Roy Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eunice Campbell; children, Ray (Tammy) Campbell and Cindy (Jeremy) Locke; grandchildren, Jordan and Jared Campbell and Becca Locke; brothers, Willie Campbell, James (Mildred) Campbell and Buster Campbell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Born in Gilbertsville, KY, Billy was a hard blue-collar worker, having a lifelong career as a meat cutter in the Nashville, TN area. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, and working on old cars and trucks. He was a lifelong Vanderbilt fan, and attended Tennessee Titans games for 20 years. He loved to travel particularly to the beach and the mountains. Most of all, Billy was a devoted family man, with a particular love for spending time with his three beloved grandchildren who called him Poppy. Pallbearers will be his son Ray Campbell, son-in-law Jeremy Locke, grandson Jared Campbell, nephews Lee and Ronnie Campbell, and Wayne Howell. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Jordan Campbell and Becca Locke, and brothers Willie, James, and Buster Campbell. Visitation with the family will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, February 23rd from 2-8 pm, and Wednesday, February 24th beginning at noon with funeral services officiated by John Grogan to be held at 2 pm.
