Nan left such an impact on us all! Charlotte and Caroline did not get the chance to meet her in person, but they knew and loved her as if they did! They would talk and FaceTime Nan during her and Mamere’s daily calls. When they’d get home and tell us about their day, an update on how Nan and Uncle Frank were doing was always included! I’m so grateful they will have these memories of her, and got to experience her love as we all have. We are all going to miss her so much!

My heart goes out to Mr. Frank, Mike, Darren, and the entire family. Our families were very close when I was growing up, and I have such fond memories of those years. She was a truly special woman who brought so much kindness and warmth to those around her.
Mrs. Bonnie was also a great comfort to me when my mother, who loved her dearly, passed, and I will always be grateful for the love and support she gave me during such a difficult time. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Sending love and prayers to the family during this difficult time.

My sister.  My best friend. Bonnie was the best big sister I could’ve ever asked for. She was my rock. She was there by my side to help celebrate the good times and she was always there to walk with me during the hard times. I admired her strong faith. She truly believed and accepted God’s will. I have no doubt that the first words she heard as she entered the gates of Heaven were “Well done my good and faithful servant.” I love you Bonnie and I will forever be grateful for the time we had together on this earth. I will truly miss our nightly 9 o’clock calls but I’ll be looking forward to the day when we will be reunited in the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ forever.  

Frank, Darren, Cheryl, Michael, Shawna and the entire Burns family, I love you all so much. You will always be in my prayers and I will always be here for you.  Bonnie used to send me pictures of your families and all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved you all and was truly proud of each and every one of you. God Bless you all.

You were a wonderful daughter to your parents, an amazing sister to your siblings, a beautiful wife  to your husband, a loving mother to your 3 boys (each of them your favorite, but we won’t tell the others), you were a great “nan” to all your nieces and nephews, and of course a great grandmother to all your grandchildren and great grandchildren!   You were also excellent to all the in-laws of everyone in your family!  It was easy to see that you touched everyone around you and your love made everyone happy .   You definitely touched the life of your sister especially over these last years and for that her entire family thanks you!    Thank you Bonnie Mae Herman Burn for being you!  And lastly thank you Lord for putting her in our lives!

We are saddened to hear of the loss of Mrs. Bonnie, but such great comfort she is with our Lord and Savior, along with her family. The memories we have of her are so fond, as her Christmas Cream Cheese Hot Sauce Dip is made every December along with talking about her. Our Nan was one of the sweetest people you would ever meet.  She was always smiling and had the best sense of humor with her reminiscing and storytelling from when her boys were young  or when she and Aunt Cathy would dress up their baby brother, Brian, and take him around town.  She would always make us laugh telling us of the shenanigans of the good ol' days.  Whether it was a trip to the Eckerd's goodie closet to pick out a toy during a visit at the Lake Charles house, a big family gathering at Darren & Cheryl's, or a late into the night Western series binge watch at her and Uncle Frank's place in Missouri, Nan was always so happy to be surrounded by her family.  Even when our family was running from a hurricane, Nan gave us a place to stay and call home for as long as we needed it.  No matter the occasion, she always made sure all the kids were happy and the adults had enough to eat.  Her roast beef recipe pops up often in our dinner menu, but still not quiet as good as Nan's.  She truly loved with her whole heart and even made the in-laws feel like they were right at home and fit perfectly.  Her texts and Facebook comments were always a way to keep her family close even though we're scattered across the country.  She loved hearing of all the activities the kids are involved in and how work and school is going, and sharing with us all the happenings of the family from her side.  We are going to miss the check-ins and seeing the bunches of emojis and Amens (both her little sprinkles of love) but know she will still hear us whenever we have good news to share.  We know she is in Heaven with our Lord and our family who have gone before us, and we know she will be there to greet us when it is our time, as well.  Until then, we love you and will miss you dearly, Nan.  Please watch over our family and keep us all on the right path in life.

For the past 42 years, I have had the privilege of calling you my mother-in-law, but you were so much more than that to me & I will always be grateful for the love, kindness, & grace you gave to me.

You may have only stood at 5’3” or so, but your strength, determination, & fierce spirit were larger than life. You raised three wonderful boys. I was blessed to marry one of them, Darren. The love, values, & devotion you had is reflected in each of them.

Your home was always more than a house, it was a place where love lived. It was filled with warmth, laughter, & unconditional love. Every wall, shelf & nook held treasured photographs of your family because they were your greatest joy. You surrounded yourself with the people you loved most, cherishing every memory & creating countless more. 

One of my most treasured gifts from you is a collection of handwritten recipes you gave me when I married Darren. I guess you figured out a Texas girl might need a little help making a good Louisiana Étouffée or gumbo. But those are more than recipes for great meals, they are a piece of you that I will always hold close. 

You were thoughtful in every way, always putting the needs of others ahead of your own. Your gentle heart, sweet spirit, & unwavering love touched everyone who knew you. You had a way of making people feel cared for, welcomed, & important.

We will miss your smile, your hugs, your meals, your stories, your emojis and the love that made this family stronger. While our hearts ache today, we find comfort in knowing that you are now in Heaven & at peace. Because of our faith, this is not goodbye forever. It is simply “until we meet again.”

Thank you for loving me as one of your own. Thank you for the memories, the lessons, the recipes for food & life, and thank you for your love. Your legacy lives on in your family, in the traditions you created, & in the countless lives you touched.

You will be deeply missed, forever loved, & never forgotten.

I find myself wishing I could hear your laugh, get one more hug, or simply tell you about my day & share pictures of my adventures with Sadie.  But I can now talk to you anytime without worry of a dropped call or bad signal. I carry the lessons you taught me, the strength you gave me, and the unconditional love that shaped my life. 
You were my first home, my greatest comfort, and my biggest supporter. Though I can't see you anymore, I see you in Kortney and Sadie, in their kind & caring ways, their values and their love for others. And I know your love will always be with me.
I will miss you every single day, Mom. I will honor your memory by living with the love, compassion, and courage you showed me. Until we meet again, you will forever be in my heart.

My Mamere’s sister, Aunt Bonnie- or “Nan” as we called her- was one of the sweetest, kindest souls you will ever meet. Some of my favorite memories growing up, was heading out West to Moss Bluff to visit the Burns family for a family reunion crawfish boil. 

The light in the world is a little dimmer today. She was a bright light in all of our lives. I will miss her dearly. I will forever be grateful that I was blessed to have her, and the entire Burns family, in our lives. I know she is receiving an amazing welcome in heaven from her brothers, parents, her brother in law- my paw paw , her nephew- my uncle John, and her son Frank III.

I was truly blessed with the best Godmother, Affectionately known as Nan she was a woman whose heart was as beautiful as her smile.

To know Nan was to be loved by her. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel special, welcomed, and important. She never met a stranger, and somehow everyone who crossed her path walked away feeling like family. She was the sweetest, most caring person,  My grandbabies who only met her in person a couple of times loved her and couldn’t wait to talk her on FaceTime. They would bring the phone to my mom and say “let’s call Nan”.

One of the things I’ll always remember is her text messages. They were never just words—they were little hugs sent through a phone, filled with colorful emojis. 

I loved talking to her and hearing her say “Amen”. It was her favorite word. It wasn’t just something she said—it was how she lived. It reflected her unwavering faith, her gratitude, her hope, and her trust in God. “Amen” was her way of saying, “It’s in God’s hands,” and she carried that peace with her.  She prayed for everyone and every situation with her whole heart and soul. 

While our hearts are broken by this tremendous loss, we are incredibly grateful that we were blessed to know her and have her in our lives. 

Nan, thank you for showing us what unconditional love looks like. Thank you for every prayer, every emoji-filled message, every kind word, and every heartfelt “Amen”.

May you rest in peace basking in the glory of our Lord and Savior. Amen

There are some people in life whose love quietly shapes who you become. My Grandma was one of those people.
 She was the glue that held our family together. She had a gift for making people feel loved, welcomed, and important. Whether through her prayers, her encouraging words, or the countless little ways she cared for those around her, she left each of us better than she found us.
I’ll miss her long text messages filled with emojis, “God bless,” and “Amen,” along with the family updates that somehow always kept us all connected. Those little messages were such a reflection of who she was, always thinking about everyone else and making sure none of us ever felt far apart.
As I’ve reflected over the past few days, I’ve realized how incredibly blessed I was to grow up with grandparents who were such a meaningful part of my life. For that, I will always be grateful to my parents. Some of my most treasured memories are with Grandma, and I will carry them with me for the rest of my life. Watching my dad love his parents with such devotion and my mom embrace them as her own taught me what family truly means. Because of the example, that legacy of love is now being passed on to another generation through Sadie.
In her lifetime, she watched me through so many seasons of life.  Celebrating milestones, walking beside me through mistakes, and loving me through it all. She watched me grow from a little girl into the woman and mother I am today. Knowing how deeply she loved me, I believe she was proud.
While our hearts are broken, I find peace knowing she is no longer suffering and is finally home with the Lord she loved so faithfully. Her life was a beautiful example of faith in action, and her love will continue to live on through every life she touched.
Not everyone gets the gift of growing up with a grandma who leaves such an imprint on their heart.
But I did.
And for that, I will be forever grateful.

As I prepare to say goodbye to my mother, I find myself thinking about the many memories we all have of her and the life she lived.

Mom was the rock of our family. She was the keeper of all. She was the one who remembered, cared for, worried about, and served everyone around her. She spent her life doing for others and rarely for herself. Her family was always at the center of her life.

But above everything else was her faith.

Mom was a true Christian. A devoted believer and follower of Christ. She didn’t just profess her faith; she lived it. It guided how she treated people, how she served others, and how she faced life.

“If it’s meant to be, it will be,” and “It is what it is.” Over the last six years, I heard those statements a lot. But not nearly as much as Amen!

Anyone who knew her also knew one thing: she ended almost everything with Amen.

A prayer—Amen.
A conversation—Amen.
Emoji filled 😍😍😍🙏🏻🙏🏻text messages—Amen.

Sometimes even an ordinary statements and occasionally even a negative ones Amen. I would say, mom I don’t think what I said was worthy of God blessings. The pharmacy won’t have your medications until tomorrow! Lol 

It was simply Mom.

But the more I think about it, the more appropriate that word seems. Amen is more than the ending of a prayer. It is an affirmation and a statement of agreement: it is true, I agree, so be it.

Perhaps without realizing it, Mom gave us the words with which to say goodbye to her.

She loved us. Amen.

She served others. Amen.

She was the rock of our family. Amen.

She lived her faith. Amen.

She was loved, and she will be deeply missed. Amen.

So, as I say goodbye to my mother, I will end the way she would have ended it.

Thank you, Mom, for the life you lived, the family you held together, the faith you demonstrated, and the love you gave us.

I love you, Mom.
