Sue,
Just got news of Charlie's passing and after viewing the online photo gallery of your family,the childhood memories of the great times at your home quickly returned.
 
Charlie was a terrific guy and a positive influence on all of Ernies pals. He had insight into our lives as we grew into young men,and,he took charge of our education regarding the greatness of Alabama football.   

Am thinking of you and your family and remembering the life and warm smile of a man who was a ray of Alabama light.

Sue and Leslie - Charlie was always so special to me!  I remember those good ole days when he would call me and say "kid" what's going to happen to this Company (meaning Quaker).  I will never forget the time I was traveling through Nashville on my way to Missouri to visit family.  I had car trouble and had to spend the night in a Nashville hotel.  I called Charlie and he came right over to the service station, consoled me (and my cat)and found us a hotel room.  I will never forget his gracious and kind spirit.  May you find peace knowing Charlie is well liked in Heaven too!  Laraine

I wanted to you to know we are thinking about you.  As you know I worked for Charlie very early in my career.  He was a great leader and friend, hard to believe that was more than 30 years ago.  He was a great trainer and taught me about Charlie Time, which was his version of Lombardi Time only in Charlie's version you knew if you were not 30 minutes early then you were late.  He was a great mentor and his advice and council served me very well in my career at The Quaker Oats Company and later Pepsico.

I wanted to share my condolences with you on the loss of Charlie. He was my first manager at Quaker Oats 30 years ago when I started in Nashville and helped me set the work ethic and care for people. He loved Quaker and Alabama football and we talked about those a lot at the Shoneys in Hermitage, or Charlie land as we called it. May God's blessings be upon you and the rest of the family.

I was shocked and saddened when Mom called and told me about Charlie.  I am so sorry.  I have so enjoyed getting to know you both at GHS reunions with Mom.  Please take good and know that I am thinking of you.

My sincere condolences to L. Sue Edwards. I can't imagine losing my mate and I know you will be lost. I am sure he will be missed by all of his classmates as well as his many friends.Once again sorry for your loss.

To the Edwards Family,
I had the privilege to be hired, trained, and supervised by Charlie as I began my career in Sales with Quaker in 1983.  Thanks to his confidence in my ability, generosity of wisdom, and subsequent friendship; I am enjoying the kind of career I admired in his.  Charlie was such a positive influence on everyone lucky enough to have been a member of his Nashville Team.  I am so proud and fortunate to have had Charlie Edwards as a major influence in my life.   He was a great man whose humor and kindness will be in my heart always.  May you find comfort in the many memories of this wonderful man and amazing manager.  He will be missed greatly.

Charlie will be greatly missed by all of his 1951 Gadsden High School classmates.  Our reunions will never be the same without his laughter.
