Charles (Charlie) Stuart Fox, age 76, passed away on January 12, 2024. Charles was a devoted Christian, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 wonderful years, Sue Douglas Fox; son, Jason S. Fox, and daughter in love, Dawn C. Fox; daughter, Rachel S. Leggett; grandchildren Emory (Fox) Gentuso and Dr. Andrew Gentuso, Ellison C. Fox, Avery M. Leggett, Camden M Leggett, and Landry M Leggett; five grand-dogs; brother, James T. Fox; aunt, Joyce Lewis; and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Fox is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. and Ruby M. Fox; grandparents. J.J. and Nannie Fox, and Gleta M. Sutherland; brother, Raymond Lee Fox; son-in-love, Mark Leggett; many loving aunts and uncles; and a very special grand-dog, Freedom’s “Justice” For All.
Mr. Fox taught Sunday School for more than 35 years at Lakeview Baptist Church, Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, and Bible Study at Victory Baptist Church. He was an ordained deacon, where he served at Lakeview Baptist Church, Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, and Victory Baptist Church.
Mr. Fox graduated from Springfield High School and Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was commissioned 2nd LT in the US Army Corp of Engineers upon graduation from Tennessee Tech University, where he finished in the top 10% of the United States Army Engineers Basic Course. He served in the inactive reserves until 1978 when he accepted an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Captain.
Mr. Fox was the founder and owner of Fox Sales, a manufacturers’ representative for engineered plumbing products, representing many manufacturers for more than 30 years. He was a CPD (Certified Plumbing Designer). He is a lifetime member of ASHRAE, ASPE, USCFCCCHR, ABPA, TBPA, TPHCC, TFSCA, and he was an alumnus of Theta Tau professional engineering fraternity.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family, studying the Word of God, Alabama Football, Titans Football, and watching western movies. He took great pride in serving the Lord and living his life for Christ. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather. His family was extremely blessed to have his guidance and leadership. He will be greatly missed but we will be reunited with him in the Presence of the Lord.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Sunday, January 14, from 1pm – 3pm at Hermitage Funeral Home in the Rachel Visitation Room with a Celebration of Life beginning at 3pm in the Tulip Grove Room of the funeral home. Jack Wilmore, Barry Wilmore, Douglas Cammuse, Lonnie Fox, Aaron Brown, Lee Steinhouse, Jamie Morgan, Rick Bost, Rick Hollis, Patrick Hemmerly, the Plumbing Design Community, Plumbing Wholesalers, and Plumbing Contractors will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Interment will be private at Hermitage Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Fox’s memory to the National Heart Association (heart.org), St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), Alive Hospice (alivehospice.org), the (kidney.org), or the preferred charity/cause of your choice.
