

Mr. Smith was born on February 3, 1919, in Grider, Kentucky, the son of the late Charles and Minnie Radford Smith. In the 1960s, he proudly owned and operated Meadowbrook Market in Hermitage. He was a faithful member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church since 1975. Throughout his life, Mr. Smith was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors, as well as being active in the Mount Juliet Masonic Lodge #642. He will be missed by all that knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mrs. Loveda Smith; one son, Charles Hugh Smith Jr, and one great grandson, River Hugh King.
He is survived by one daughter, Jeanetta Nell Glendenning and her husband, Guy; three grandchildren, Amanda Howard and her husband, Dan, Heather McAlister and Tristan McAlister; one great granddaughter on the way, Vella Nell Howard; a beloved friend, Evelyn Chandler, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from one o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Hermitage Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church with Brother Dan Arterburn officiating.
Interment will follow at Mount Juliet Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mr. Smith to any of the following: Nashville Rescue Mission, Shriner’s Children Hospital, or Salvation Army.
