She is preceded in death by Mother Clifton Corinne Townes, Brothers Bill and Richard, Sister Clifton (Sissy) Deering and many devoted aunts. She is survived by her husband Jerry, Son Scooter Pardue (Amanda), Daughter Melissa Shaneyfelt (Truman), Daughter Lori Nannie (Todd), five granddaughters, one grandson, five great-grandsons, and any great-grand-children born in the future, Sisters Ann and Julia, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Corinne was born and raised in Nashville, TN, she attended public schools through high school. She became a young widow with two small children, raising them with the help of family. She eventually re-met a friend from high school, Jerry Gowen, and they married in 1971. Mrs. Gowen worked in the clerical/secretarial area performing word processing and mail-room duties, retail sales with Castner Knott, clerking with Walgreens and was a house usher at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. She lived most of her life in the Nashville area, however, Corinne and Jerry relocated to Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, in 2000 and lived there for eight years, returning to the Nashville area.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday July 2, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00PM and again from 9:00-10:00AM Thursday July 3, 2025, at the Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens , 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, Tn. , where funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Thursday July 3rd with Brother Tony Langton officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Cross, Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Active and Honorary Pallbearers will be family members
Corinne was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and was its victim for almost three years. Although flowers are appreciated and accepted, however due to the ravages in life that ALS causes for so many people, Corinne and family would appreciate donations in her name to the ALS Association in lieu of flowers.
