He will be dearly missed by his family – Spencer W. Gay (father), Madeline McCrary (mother), his brothers Spencer E. Gay and Doug Fuqua (Jennifer), step-brothers David and Michael McCrary, nieces Chloe and Cayli Gay and Morgan Fuqua, Uncle Mickey Rabuka (Gena) and Aunt Sue Flynn, many cousins and countless friends.
He graduated from Forrest Lake Academy in Apopka, FL and studied at Middle Tennessee State University and spent most of his career in retail and sales management.
He will be remembered as a man with a big heart who treasured his relationships with family and friends. He would do anything for you without expectation. He was smart, funny, witty, occasionally irreverent and always ready to share a hilarious meme, musician sighting at the airport or an interesting story.
His eclectic taste in music led him across the country, seeing live shows and concerts and meeting some of his closest friends. He was a huge fan of Todd Rundgren and attended over 100 of his concerts.
His other hobbies included collecting music memorabilia, reading, fishing, watching college sports, especially Vanderbilt University (Go Dores, Anchor Down). He enjoyed traveling and saw much of the country, visiting friends, discovering new destinations and trying new cuisines. In fact, David was a hot chicken fan before it was cool. His favorite was Prince’s Chicken in Nashville.
