David Wayne Struble

David Wayne Struble, loving husband of Louise (Murray), brother to Rick Struble, brother-in-law to the late Jane and Brendan Flynn, wonderful uncle to Jenny and Pete Scanlon, John and Nicole Flynn, Jennifer Struble and Pete Tolpa, and Sara and Jared Osterloh, great uncle to Sean (Scanlon) Carr, Riley Scanlon, Larkin and Eden Flynn, Margaret, Lane and Mary Jane Osterloh, passed away on August 5, 2026 at home.

Born August 6, 1940, in Darby, Pennsylvania, Dave lived a life marked by steadfast devotion, hard work, and a resilience that carried him through every chapter with purpose and quiet courage. A beloved and cherished presence to those who knew him, he was also known for a ready humor—often delivered with the kind of sharp, memorable timing that made his stories linger long after they were told.

Dave graduated from Penncrest High School in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree and first master’s degree in geography from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and later earned a second master’s degree from the American College of Financial Services in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania—an education that reflected both discipline and a lifelong commitment to doing things thoroughly and well.

After high school, Dave joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962, serving aboard an aircraft carrier and gathering the experiences that would become the foundation for his fun stories and keen observations. Following four years of service to the country he loved, he returned to higher learning and then built a lifelong career as an entrepreneur. His ventures included owning a bar, a grocery store and deli before he ultimately entered the financial services industry. Later in life, he joined the United States Army National Guard Special Forces and graduated from “jump school” at the age of 50—an achievement that spoke to his bravery and his refusal to let age define what was possible.

In the summer of 1988 on the Jersey Shore, with no music playing, David approached Louise and asked her to dance. That simple, confident moment began their 38-year love affair. They married in 1990 and built a life rooted in loyalty and shared purpose. David founded Struble Financial Services in Bonita Springs, Florida, where Louise joined him as a business partner after retiring from IBM. Together, they built a strong business with loyal clients and ultimately sold it in 2012. They retired to Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Cashiers, North Carolina, where David devoted himself to his true passion—golf. He maintained a low handicap and recorded three holes-in-one during his lifetime, a testament to the dedication and high standards he brought to everything he pursued.

A lifelong athlete, David lived by “Dedication, Discipline, Desire,” proudly wearing the slogan on his training shirts as he prepared for numerous half- and full-marathons, including the Marine Corps Marathon. At age 79, he became the oldest person to be certified in MovNat, an internationally recognized program promoting natural movement in support of lifetime strength and flexibility—another example of his resilient spirit and determined follow-through.

David was an Eagles fan through and through. He had a way of instilling confidence in people, setting the bar high, and expecting others—like himself—to meet it. He didn’t suffer fools, and those who earned his respect knew the depth of his loyalty and the steady devotion behind his convictions.

David was a resident of Hermitage, Tennessee. His legacy is one of courage, commitment, and a life fully engaged—lived with humor, grit, and a deep devotion to the people and pursuits he cherished.

There will be a Memorial Gathering of Family & Friends on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Hermitage Funeral Home from 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM, followed by a Memorial Celebration of Dave's Life at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dave's memory to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (https://curealz.org/).
