Debbie was survived by her loving sister, Carolyn Linder; two nieces, Randle Marsh (Jeremy) and Sarah Linder; a nephew, Nathan Marsh; her dog, Peanut; and a village of caregivers, nurses, staff, and so many friends who loved our Debbie.
Debbie in her early 20s took such pride in being able to get up early in the morning, walk two miles to go catch the bus to downtown Nashville to work at Parkview Hospital in the dietary department.
She later went to work at Sheraton Music City as a housekeeper which never left her mind as she got in her elder years. This was evidenced by in her latter years in life at the assisted living she was still trying to go into residents' room to clean and would always knock on their door and say housekeeping.
Debbie loved waiting for the "bus" in the mornings to go to "school" after she retired from working. That was her joy and gave her a sense of purpose every day. Given her Alzheimer's progressively got a lot worse over time, she always wanted to know when the bus was coming to take her to school.
We must not forget that Debbie's whole world was her dogs over many decades of her life (CoCo, Mickey Pickett, and Peanut). She lived for those dogs and they were very protective over her. Her most enjoyable moments in life were spending time with her family, watching Reba and Golden Girls on her iPad, coloring, singing, dancing, and playing with her dogs. Debbie loved the Lord with all of her being.
We know that as a family, our hearts are deeply broken, but we have been blessed to have so many angels to look over our Debbie in the form of being kind to her and loving her like we did. We know that Debbie, herself, was a beautiful angel here on Earth to all of us by her smile, her eyes, and just a childlike innocence. We are so grateful for all of the love kindness, and compassion to our Debbie from all the staff and friends she has made along the way (Providence Place Assisted Living, Summit Hospital, McKendree Village - Skilled Nursing, and NHC Heartland).
Our sweet Debbie passed at 11:12 a.m. on Monday, August 24th, 2026. We will be celebrating Debbie's life and memories on Friday, August 28th, 2026 at Hermitage Funeral Home with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the service will start at 12:00 pm. She will forever be in our hearts and mind and go rest high on that mountain sweet girl.
