He was born on Sand Mountain in Section, Ala, on March 3, 1932, and was a multi-sport athlete at nearby Jackson County High School. His skills on the football field earned him the nickname “Trippi.”
In 1950, his National Guard unit was activated as Company B, 151st Combat Engineers, and was deployed to Korea, where they built roads and bridges on the front lines of the conflict. It was one of his greatest honors to serve with the 164 officers and men of Company B.
After graduating from the University of Alabama in 1955, he spent the next 40 years working as an auditor for US Steel all over the world.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, June Luna Campbell, and grandson, Logan Brumit and is survived by his daughters: Kathy Brumit (Charlie), and Leah Martin (Gary), grandchildren: Clint Brumit (Cindy), Chelsea Burke (Randall), and Meredith Martin (Ethan Gossett), and great-grandchildren: Molly Craig Brumit, and Logan Connor Burke.
