

Dorothy Omega Ray, age 88, of Old Hickory, Tennessee passed away peacefully, in her home, with her dog "Millie" by her side, on Monday, March 8, 2021. She was born February 15, 1933 in Jackson County Tennessee to Bill and Georgia Coffee. Her family included 12 other siblings: Sammy E. Coffee, Billy Coffee, James Coffee, Joe Coffee, Elizann Wheeler, and Loretta Gentry, all deceased. Her surviving siblings are: Thomas Coffee, Sally Trout, Juanita West, Grace Hall, Kathleen Lloyd, and Alta Brown. Dorothy is survived by 3 children: Patricia Crosset (partner Jim Holder), Linda Williams (husband Steve Williams), and Gary Scott (wife Dalia Garcia). Dorothy was a proud grandmother to 3 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. This lover of life never met a stranger, and could always put a smile on anyone’s face. Her laugh was infectious. A proud southern cook, she loved serving up home-made biscuits and gravy, (a skill she picked up from her mother Georgia). She loved to sing old country songs, especially ones by Kitty Wells. Dorothy’s hobbies included crocheting and embroidery. Her favorite pastime was watching old westerns, Gunsmoke was the one she liked best. She attended Green Hill Church of Christ in Mt. Juliet, TN. Dorothy was retired from Kmart. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering, later this summer. Date TBA.
