He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Evelyn Ivey Floyd. He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Ruth Floyd Hudson and Deborah Lynn Floyd Power and son-in-law, David James Power, along with four grandchildren, Maria Sue Hudson, Felix James Hudson, Rachel Pauline Power, and Daniel James Power.
He spent his career working in the insurance industry and he served over 20 years as a Technical Sargent in the Air National Guard in Tennessee and Nebraska.
Edgar was a deeply committed Christ Follower and to the work of First Baptist Donelson, where he married Evelyn in 1953, and served faithfully as a deacon. Edgar and Evelyn helped start Lakewood Baptist Church in Donelson, TN before moving to Kansas City, Topeka, Lincoln, and Fort Worth. They returned to Tennessee in 1998, and he worked diligently with Room in the Inn, Baptist Men, and the Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief Team for many years.
Edgar was a wonderful father, and loving grandfather, and a great example of a servant of Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
The Celebration of Edgar's Life will be on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Donelson, 2526 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, Tennessee, with Bro. Jim Cross officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Military Honors & Inurnment will follow the service on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
