Eunice Ann Campbell of Hermitage, TN passed away Monday, April 27, 2026 at the age of 79. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Billy; parents J.C. and Lonie Howell and siblings J.A. Howell, Kathleen Maxedon, Frances Goldtrap, Johnny Howell, and Curly Howell. She is survived by her children Ray (Tammy) Campbell and Cindy (Jeremy) Locke; grandchildren, Jordan (Noah) Chance, Jared Campbell and Becca Locke; great granddaughter Emerson Chance; sister Margie Binkley; sisters-in-law Janie and Mildred Campbell; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Eunice was born on September 28, 1946, in Nashville, TN into a large hard working farming family. They grew tomatoes and other vegetables on the farm and had a stall at the farmers market in Nashville where they sold their vegetables. She would help tend the garden and learned the art of good ole southern cooking by preparing meals for her family, farm hands and field workers. We all reaped the rewards of her great cooking abilities during our lives. At the age of 18, Billy followed her school bus home and asked her out on a date; they began dating, married a year later and started their family.
She had her son, Ray, in 1967 and following that a daughter, Cindy, in 1971. The two children completed her and Billy’s family. They shared their life in a quaint home in Hermitage. The home was always filled with laughter and love. She always made birthdays, vacations, holidays and even normal days special. She has been her children’s best friend and confidante since a young age. Ray and Cindy married and brought Tammy and Jeremy into the family. They both grew to love Eunice as their mom.
Ray and Tammy had Jordan in 1999 and Jared in 2001. Cindy and Jeremy had Becca in 2006. Her grandchildren developed a tight bond with her at an early age. She spent many hours and days babysitting and caring for her grandchildren. They played games, created many arts and crafts, played house and school, swung in the yard and she would even toss a ball around. She was always present in their lives as they grew older as well. She loved the school lunch opportunities, school award presentations, proms, track events, dance recitals or baseball games. In 2022, Jordan expanded her family by marrying Noah. In 2024, Jordan and Noah added her newest greatest joy in life, her great granddaughter, Emerson. She had a love for her family that was unprecedented. Her family was her world, her everything.
She had a lifelong career in customer service where she enjoyed talking to and helping customers. She was a people person and always enjoyed a good conversation, which made customer service the ideal occupation. Her jobs included anything between working for a tour company to working in a grocery store.
Eunice loved everything outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, grew tomatoes every summer, and planted every flower imaginable. She definitely had a green thumb. Eunice loved her hummingbirds, blue birds and cardinals. She took great joy in watching and feeding them regularly. She still enjoyed evening walks right up until the day she passed.
She was full of life in so many ways, and we are forever blessed to have had her in our lives.
Eunice went peacefully in her sleep on Monday morning to spend eternity with our Heavenly Father.
Pallbearers will be her son Ray Campbell, son-in-law Jeremy Locke, grandson Jared Campbell, grandson-in-law Noah Chance and nephews Ronnie and Donnie Campbell.
Visitation with the family will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens on Thursday, April 30th from 4-8pm and Friday, May 1st beginning at noon with funeral services officiated by Rev. James Locke III to be held at 2 pm.
