Gail is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Preston Poteete; her parents, Ernest Potter and Velma Wilkins Potter; and her siblings, Gary Potter, Silva Potter Terry, and Nina Potter Patton.
She is survived by her children, Amber (Tony) Rankin and Alex (Debbie) Poteete; grandchildren, Andrew Rankin, Caleb (MaryAlice) Rankin, and Katelin (Landon) Maples; and great-grandchildren, Preston Rankin and Kaylee Rankin.
Gail found great joy in sewing and cooking, especially preparing meals for family and friends. She loved collecting recipes and glassware and was always happiest when she was sharing her cooking with others.
She was a lifelong member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.
Gail will be remembered for her loving heart, generosity, and the many ways she brought family and friends together. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2026 from 3:00pm ~ 7:00pm and Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 1:00pm ~ 2:00pm with a Celebration of Life at 2:00pm and the burial to follow at Hermitage Funeral Home 5358 Shute Lane old Hickory, TN 37138.
Elder Doyle Hurst will be conducting the Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
