He is preceded in death by wife, Debra Blanchard, of Nashville, and survived by his son, Jason, of Nashville.
George proudly served in the USAF from 1970-1974 and reenlisted in the Services when he joined the US Army in 1978.
While in the Army he worked as a recruiter and guidance counselor, helping to shape many young men’s careers and futures. He retired as a SFC-E7 in 1993 but could never remain idle, always working and even starting his own business.
George was an avid golfer, volunteering at the Shelby Golf Course until he was eventually hired on as support staff.
His life was ended too soon, and he will always be loved and sorely missed by all that knew him.
A memorial in his honor will be held at Shelby Golf Course on Oct. 13, 2019 at 9:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The First Tee of Middle Tennessee and mailed to Tennessee Golf Foundation, 400 Franklin Road, Franklin, TN 37069.
