Glenn Larry Slate passed away late Saturday night leaving behind a wife, Connie Slate and two daughters, Elaina Gupton and husband Jeremy Gupton, and Candace Slate. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Ethan Slate, Kaylee Lowe, Isaiah and Ana Gupton and a sister, Carole Slate. He had been fighting for his health for several years but each time his family said goodbye he rallied and came back to us. This time he let go. He lived as a man of deep convictions, a strong belief in God but until the last few months of his life, he had not let God have control in his life. He stands today with his daughter Cheree, parents, and brothers before a gentle and loving God because he was finally able to let God have all of him. He talked of his love for baseball and real estate and hated the Post Office where he worked but he loved his girls. Though it hurts to let go of what might have been, we know we will see him again. A Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at West Hills Baptist Church, 1240 Leesville Pike Lebonan, TN, Rev. Jonas Taylor officiating.
