Gloria A. Wakefield

Gloria spent her life as both a homemaker and mother, a role she carried with steadiness and her gentle, compassionate spirit. Beloved by those who knew her best, Gloria gave of herself in quiet, selfless ways-offering strength when it was needed most. And meeting life with a resilient, optimistic heart.

In 1969, Gloria met her beloved husband, Dean and the two of them shared fifty-seven happy years of marriage together. She was a devoted mother to her two boys, Eric and Brian, and a loving grandmother to her many grand and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “Mamaw.”

Gloria found joy in the simple, faith rythms of home and family. She had a fascination for birds-especially cardinals and fed them every day. She is remembered as an amazing homemaker who always prioritized her children, including taking them swimming every day in the summer to make sure they always had fun. Her family fondly remembers what a wonderful cook she was, her love of peanut M&M’s the soap operas she always had on, and her smile-which remained present even through her worst times of struggle.

Gloria is survived by; her husband Dean Wakefield, her two sons, Brian (Vicki) and Eric (Robyn) Wakefield; her sister Veda Wolfe, her grandchildren Kayla Wakefield-Lane (Zach), Kobi, Brody, Ethan, Channing, and Brenner Wakefield, Kenzie (Justis) Leach, and Emma, Lauren and Camryn Brewer; as well as her great-grandchildren, Hadley, Harper and Stella.

She is preceded in death by; her parents, John and Ellen Adams, her beloved cat, Mole and sweet dog Max.

The family expresses their gratitude for the support of their friends and community.
