Harry was a member and elder of the Donelson Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Baylor Military Academy in the Class of 1950 and was also a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Training School in Fort Seal, Oklahoma. He served in the Army National Guard (181st Field Artillery) for nine years and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
Harry was employed and retired as the Vice President from National Life and Accidental Insurance Company and American and American General Life Insurance Company after thirty-five years of service. He was the past President of the General Agents and Managers Association of Nashville. He went back to work for four years with South Life Holding Company as Vice President and Regional Manager but retired again in 1991 when the company was sold.
Harry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years Jo Anne Parker; his son David Price Parker; his father B. F. Parker and his mother Lorraine Burnett Parker; his brothers Frank Parker and Johnny Parker; and his sister Lorraine Gilbert Parker.
Harry is survived by his daughter Leigh Anne Gregory (Wayne); his daughter Ellen Parker (Phillip); and his daughter-in-law Margie Parker; his sister Charlotte Dies of Hartsville, Tennessee; his granddaughter Jennifer Gourley (Wayne), his granddaughter Michelle Gregory, his grandson Davy Gregory (Casey), his granddaughter Rebecca Rippon (Micah) and his grandson Paul Daly (Cori). Mr. Parker also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hermitage Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM officiated by Dr. Paul Casner and Wayne Gregory, Harry's son-in-law. Harry will be laid to rest next to his wife, Jo, and son, David, in the Garden of Peace at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Brooke Biggs, Paul Daly, Jennifer Gourley, Casey Gregory, Davy Gregory, Michelle Gregory, Micah Rippon, and Rebecca Rippon will serve as pallbearers.
