She is survived by a granddaughter, Sunny (Jason) Bybee; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Abby Kate, and Jackson Bybee; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Shates; a sister, Sarah Pierce; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Don Harold Shates; sons Roger Ray Shates and Alan Neal Shates; grandson, Roger Alan Shates; her parents, Leonard and Ocia Bassham; and other siblings.
A graveside service (no visitation) will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Hermitage, TN, (615) 889-0361.
