Preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Hunter Allen, her dear father William C. MacElwee and her mother Christina MacElwee.
She attended and graduated from University in Pennsylvania, as a registered nurse. She met and fell in love with her beloved Hunter and they were married in 1962. She led a very interesting and adventurous life. She was an advocate for unborn children as well as the homeless. She gave of herself to the very last day. ( She was ministering to a young girl who just lost her mother the day she was scheduled for surgery herself) They made their home in Mt. Juliet Tennessee where they raised 3 wonderful sons. She could be cantankerous and has been known to speak her mind but with a blink of the eye she was the most gentle and loving person I know. Her heart was for the Lord first, then her husband, and the love she had for her children was never ending and rare. The loyalty to her friends is commendable. This world is less one precious person. May her sweet soul rest in peace. You are home now mom. Look forward to seeing you again one day.
Survived by her sons, Joseph Hunter Allen Jr. (Judi), Edward Craig Allen (Donna) and Forrest Vickers Allen (Stacey); grandchildren, Joseph Hunter Allen III (Kayla), Sunny Nicole Allen and Daniel Tyler Allen; great-grandchild, Joseph Hunter Allen IV; 2 cats, Dink and Tux; a host of family and friends.
A Memorial service will be conducted 2pm Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Hermitage Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home,
