James William Hooper Jr

James William “Bill” Hooper passed away peacefully in his home on April 9, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Ida Hurt Hooper and James Hooper. Survived by wife of 65 years Joanne Hooper and beloved dog, Daisy. Dearly loved father to Jim (Brenda) Hooper, and Joan Hooper. Grandfather to Jamie Hooper, David (Serena) Hooper, Marcus (Sarah) Hooper and Kendall (Zak) Bush. Great grandfather to Nash William Hooper.

Bill was born in Donelson, on October 8, 1930. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from David Lipscomb College and a Master’s Degree from Peabody College. He worked for the Metro Board of Education for 38 years, serving as a teacher and principal of Alex Green, Glencliff Elementary, and Rosebank Elementary. Mr. Hooper was a veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Ravenwood Country Club, and he was also a lifelong member of Donelson Church of Christ. He and his wife spent many happy times together fishing and playing golf. Above all, he loved his family, his friends and his home.

Visitation April 12th 4-6 pm, A Celebration of Life service will follow both to be held at Donelson Church of Christ. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s honor to Donelson Church of Christ 2706 Old Lebanon Road Nashville, TN 37214
