James Sidney Matthews, Jr. (J.Sid), age 91, of Hermitage, TN, passed away March 20, 2021. He was born July 11, 1929, in Cunningham, Montgomery County, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James S. and Lottie Bumpus Matthews; and sister, Mary Charlotte Averitt. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Matthews; and, sons, Kevin Matthews and James D. Matthews.

He was a life-long member of the Methodist Church.

Mr. Matthews was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Dairy Division, and a long-time member of the Middle Tennessee Agricultural Club.

J. Sid was a graduate of Clarksville High School, Austin Peay State University and George Peabody College.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 28, 2021, at 2:00 pm in Hermitage Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
