Jane Perkins Eaton

EATON, Jane Perkins, died at McKendree Village of February 11, 2014. Jane was the daughter of the late Frank C. Perkins Sr. and Hazel Hall Perkins. Jane had one brother, the late, Frank C. Perkins Jr. She was born December 16, 1926 in Hartsville, Tennessee. Jane spent her childhood in Hartsville, living on Halltown Rd near many of her relatives. She attended Tennessee Tech and Memphis UT School of Nursing. She worked at Kennedy Veteran’s Hospital in Memphis as a staff nurse. Later she transferred to Nashville V.A. Hospital. It was there that she met her future husband, Herbert Elgin Eaton. She later, when Donelson Hospital was built, joined the staff and worked there for 18 years, serving as Director of Nurses part of that time. She later was employed by the state testing nursing applicants. Jane and Herb were married January 30, 1955. He died in December, 1984. Jane leaves her beloved daughter, Kathleen Marie Easton Hester and her grandchildren, Katelyn Ann, Kristen Jane, Troy James, Thaddeous Wayne and Savannah Carolyn and sister-in-law, Hurberta (Berta) Hill Perkins, her special brother-in-law, James Eaton. She leaves other relatives and friends to morn her passing. Jane was a member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and was active in the Shepard Sunday School Class and the Hilltoppers. She was a member of the Stones River Women’s Club and Donelson Business and Professional Women’s Club where she served as president. Visitation for Jane will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home at 12:30pm until 2pm on Thursday, February 13, 2014. A Funeral service will follow at 2pm with Dr. Poly Rouse officiating. Burial will be in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
