Jerry E. Gibbs

He was born in Carthage, Tennessee, the son of the late Willie and Mary Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs was a man of God and a member of Temple Baptist Church. He retired from DuPont in 1993. He had a passion for trains and music—preferably old country, gospel, and bluegrass—and he never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, JD, Claude, and Bill, and his son, Richie Gibbs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jayne Gibbs; two sons, Randy (Jennifer) Gibbs and Ronnie (Peggy) Gibbs; six grandchildren that affectionately called him “Granddad,” “Grandpa,” “Grandma,” and “Coo Coo,” Devin, Darbie, Daylen, Andrew, Isaac, and Kayla Gibbs; two great grandchildren, Aubry and Barrett, and several other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Hermitage Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, and the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Pastor Gary Bourgeois officiating.

Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Gibbs to the Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 110 Fellowship Lane, Old Hickory, Tennessee 37138.
