Jerry Lee Wright

March 1, 1952October 30, 2018

Jerry Lee Wright had Heavenly Angels turn the page to his next chapter October 30th, 2018. His story began March 1st, 1952. He was the third son of Chandler ‘Shank’ Lee Wright and Radie Lucille Hinson Wright.

He was an exuberant spirit who answered to many names. He was ‘The Dancing Bear’ in the bowling alley and ‘Bubba’ everywhere else. If you asked him for directions somewhere, he was ‘Wrong-Way Wright’. He was ‘The Daddy Rabbit’ at home.

He was formally educated at the Tennessee Technological University, but settled outside of Knoxville where he adopted the local university’s teams as his own. He was often heard shouting, “Go Vols!” or “Go Big Orange!” He was a faithful stadium usher for the University of Tennessee football team for several years.

He was a lifelong New York Yankees baseball fanatic. The recent Boston Red Sox World Series victory certainly did not aid his earthly circumstances.

He was a competitive spirit who enjoyed games of all kinds, but his joy for score keeping may have been his greatest joy of all. Bubba was known to dole out a good pencil whipping on occasion. He took pleasure in a good card game too, especially Rook. He may not have been the inventor of table talk among partners, but he was definitely a friendly conversationalist across the table. He had a strong affinity for strategic board games like Risk. There was a twinkle in his eye every time he conquered the Australian continent.

He always enjoyed a hearty political debate as well. His closest family and friends know he wouldn’t let something as trivial as death get in the way of casting his ballot in the upcoming midterms.

He is survived by three children: Tammy, Sonya and Clay; their mother: Diana Hill Wright; granddaughter: McKenna; brothers: Milton Chandler ‘M.C.’ Wright (Wanda), and Bobby Wright (Sally); sisters: Brenda Wright Garcia, and Linda Wright Jordan (Kelvin) in addition to several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Special appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Community Care of Rutherford County and Alive Hospice.

Flowers may be sent to Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, Tennessee 37138. The receiving of family and friends will be Sunday, November 4th, 2018 from 11am-2pm with interment to immediately follow.

Bubba will always be remembered for his laughter and good-hoarded nature. Played many rounds of golf with Bubba around Knoxville and at Myrtle Beach. Also many memories from our work experience at TVA. Will always remember as a good friend that I was fortunate to know.
