Jim was born to William O’Dell and Louise Norwood on Feb. 22, 1952, the second of three children. He grew up in Westland, Michigan and moved to Madison, TN in 1973.
He is preceded in death by his loving first wife of 27 years, Janet Stone Norwood, his parents William O’Dell and Louise Norwood, and his granddaughter Cecelia Lynn Norwood.
He is survived by his loving wife Cathey Norwood. He leaves behind 3 devoted children: Bethanie (Steve) Jarrell, Alison (Daniel) Norrod, & Jim (Lacey) Norwood, 2 Stepchildren; Stacy Borchert & Christie (Craig) Parker. He also leaves behind 8 precious grandchildren; Alexis Jarrell (Ryan Souders), Aubrey (Kyle) Osborne, Steven Jarrell, Jr., Collin Jarrell, Stella Norwood, Scarlett Norwood, Olivia Norwood, Jeremiah Norwood, and one great-granddaughter, Lilly Jarrell. He also leaves behind 3 step-grandchildren; Kyla Parker, Kori Parker, and Kara Parker. Also survived by his sister, Judy (Jerry) Newman, and brother Roger (Connie) Norwood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many wonderful friends.
Jim retired from Kroger Co after 30 years of dedicated service. Jim was a maintenance man for Landmark Realty and Auction in Camden, TN. He was a Christian, and attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Camden, TN.
Jim was known for his incredible work ethic, his zeal for life, his outgoing personality, his wonderful sense of humor, his love for his family and the Lord, and his willingness to always help others. He loved sports, hunting, fishing, and he loved walking his two dogs, Ali and Zeus, in the woods. He loved to be outdoors doing anything… even if it included working.
He leaves a wonderful legacy for generations to come. Heaven just got sweeter. He is gone from this earth but will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Hermitage Memorial Funeral Home in Hermitage, with Bro Jud Hays officiating. Visitation with the family will be same day, Sunday January 19 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in his memory.
