John Matthew Skelley

John Matthew Skelley, age 84, of Lascassas, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Johnny was born on August 8, 1940 in Old Hickory TN to his parents Emery Paul Sr & Grace Lee Denton Skelley who preceded him in death.

Johnny was a machine operator for Remay DuPont from which he retired. After retirement he simplified his life somewhat and bought a farm in Rutherford County. He enjoyed his time there with his animals, especially cats. He also loved to play golf. He was a Christian and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a wonderful husband, father and grand & great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all that had the opportunity to know him.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Marilyn. He is survived by his three children, John M "Rusty" (Angela) Skelley, Lori (Larry) Smith, Teri (Brian) Brown, 8 Grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren 2 sisters Polly Finch and Sue Davenport and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation for Johnny on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138, followed by a Graveside Service at 11:00 AM in Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

In remembrance of Johnny's life, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alive Hospice.
