Joyce P. White, a devoted and resilient soul, passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on April 26, 1940, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, Joyce lived a life marked by faithfulness, hard work, and loyalty. She was known for her unwavering spirit and dedication to her family and community.
Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late Claude P. Pope and Lucille Keeton Pope. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Pope, and her husband, Hugh C. White. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey M. "Mike" White, and his wife, Ginger Smithson White. Her legacy continues through her granddaughters, Stephanie Gomez and her husband Francisco, Amber Kolaski and her husband Nicholas, and Patricia Drach and her husband Larry. Joyce also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Zoe, Kris, Eliza, Samantha, Phoebe, and Michael, along with many extended family members.
In her early years, Joyce was deeply involved in Old Hickory Baseball during the 1970s and had a profound interest in politics. She was a big sports fan, always cheering for the University of Alabama's "Roll Tide." Joyce loved to travel with her husband, exploring new places and creating lasting memories.
Her career saw her working as a real estate agent and later at Hermitage Landing, now known as Nashville Shores, until an illness prompted her retirement. Despite life's challenges, Joyce remained steadfast in her beliefs and values, leaving a legacy of strength and resilience.
Joyce was a longtime member of the Hermitage United Methodist Church, where her faith and commitment to her community were evident. Her life will be celebrated at the Hermitage Funeral Home, located at 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138. A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on February 4, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and again on February 5, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow on February 5, 2026, at 1:00 pm with Dr. Jud Hays, officiating. Mike White, Mark White, Larry White, Shawn Pope, Cecil Pitts and Roy Lane will serve as Active Pallbearers. Larry Drach, Nicholas Kolaski and Francisco Gomez will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed so you can view the service at your convenience. (Simply go to the Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens Facebook page. The live-stream will begin approximately ten minutes before the service begins.) Following the service, Joyce will be laid to rest in the Garden of Memories at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
Joyce's life was a testament to her strong values and firm beliefs. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
