

Kenneth R. Jones, Jr. of Mt Juliet, Tennessee passed from this life into his eternal home on Sunday, March 1, 2015. Ken is survived by his parents Kenneth and Joanne Jones and his loving wife of nearly 25 years, Janice Jones. He is also survived by his sons, Brandon, Adam, and Carter and Brandon’s wife, Katie. Ken was blessed to have two grandsons, Xavier and Corbin. Other survivors include his brother David, sister-in-law, Lisa, and two nephews, Eric and Daniel Jones.
Ken was born on June 3, 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1969, at the age of 15, he became an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scout Troop #282. Ken graduated from Maplewood High School in 1972 and went on to graduate from Memphis State University Summa Cum Laude in 1976. Ken attended Vanderbilt Law School, where he served in the prestigious position of Executive Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review, and graduated in 1980. Ken began his legal career with the firm of Bass Berry & Sims and later moved to the firm of Sherrard & Roe, where he became a partner. After spending 14 years with that firm, he formed the law firm of Jones Hawkins & Farmer. Ken focused the majority of his law practice on securities, corporate, and commercial litigation, and business disputes.
In 2014, Ken was selected by his peers as a fellow in the Nashville Bar Foundation. He became known by many in the legal community as the lawyer’s lawyer, and
was often consulted or associated by other lawyers for assistance with their most difficult cases. He was widely known for his keen intellect, incisive legal analysis, sound judgment, sense of fairness, sense of humor, and sheer common sense. Ken was respected by his peers for his exemplary professionalism, courtesy toward others, and his highest ethical standards. He was revered by his clients for his ability to find practical solutions to difficult problems, as well as his effectiveness, empathy, and humility. Along with being an accomplished lawyer, Ken enjoyed golfing, fishing, and water sports. Ken will be greatly missed within the legal community and by his family and friends.
