As a child, he attended Kendall Christian Academy until the family moved to Canton, Ohio in 1984. In Canton, he went to public school and at age 9, he was very much concerned about conserving energy, writing school papers and earning achievements. At 10, his mother got him involved in local theatre to help with his dyslexia where he played the lead role in Charlie Brown. He also played “The King” in the Mason School’s Primary III Class production of Rumpelstiltskin.
Following graduation from GlenOak high school in 1995, Kevan attended Ohio Media School where he achieved his bachelor's in media communications.
At age 21, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he pursued a lifetime career in banking.
While in St. Louis, he traveled throughout Europe and the mediterranean countries gathering a wealth of historical knowledge and many, many stories of his travels and shenanigans (his favorite word). In 2011, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
Kevan met his husband, Stephen Haynie, in 2016 and they were married April 15, 2017, at their home in Hermitage, Tennessee.
Kevan enjoyed traveling, theatre, entertaining, parties, dinners (basically any social event). He loved to cook (when he felt like cooking), candles, cologne (anything that made the room or oneself smell good and his collection of t-shirts. Anyone he met became a friend. His love of music and knowing the background behind any song was astonishing – he was a wealth of knowledge on so many topics.
Kevan is survived by his husband Stephen Carter Haynie of Hermitage, Tennessee; Father Fred W. Crans of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; mother Dian Perkinson (Robert) of Gallatin, Tennessee; Brother Christopher Crans (Anna) of Shaker Heights, Ohio; Aunt Saundra London of Hermitage, Tennessee; Aunt Gail St Philip of Miami, Florida; one Niece, one Nephew and literally thousands of friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sumner County Humane Society at sumnerhumane.org or to the "favorite charity of your choice" in Kevan's memory.
There will be a Celebration of a Life Well Lived on Saturday October 5, 2024 at 1 pm at Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in the Tulip Grove Chapel. The family will have an hour of gathering before the service.
Condolences, word of comfort and expressions of sympathy may be left for the Crans family by clicking the "Add A Memory" tab at the bottom of this page or by visiting www.hermitagefh.com
