Larry V. Gibbs was born on May 24, 1947 and peacefully died December 31, 2020. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 22 years Connie S. Gibbs, son Chad (Amanda) Gibbs of Charlotte, NC, daughter Marissa (Shane) Butler of Bowling Green, KY and stepson Brandon Cherry of Brentwood, TN; grandsons Ramsey and Branch Butler; sister Gail Wilkins and sister-in-law Shirley Head of White House, TN also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gibbs is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Isabel Schell Gibbs and brother-in-law Larry Wilkins.
Born in Gallatin, TN, Larry spent his childhood in Lewisburg and Camden, TN. He attended school at Bethel College and spent his early career as a lab technician at Nashville Memorial Hospital during his first marriage. He later transitioned into lab software installation with Healthcare Management Systems and married Connie, the love of his life, in 1998.
His sense of humor is what most will remember best about Larry as he never missed an opportunity to make a joke. “Pop” could often be heard teasing his two beloved grandsons, acting just as silly and causing lots of giggles. He was also a kind, generous and gentle soul who was very easy to talk with, befriending many along his life’s journey.
Larry was an avid sports fan, especially Vanderbilt athletics, and loved the outdoors from an early age. He was an Eagle Scout, later mentoring Scouts with his son’s Boy Scout troop and was an assistant Little League baseball coach. A man of great faith, he was a member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church.
Larry's favorite activities were playing golf and going fishing. He loved to travel and spend time near the ocean, and his family is at peace knowing he has reached the golden shore.
