Laura Ellen “Nannie” Hinson passed away on October 22, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and love. Known affectionately as “Nannie,” Ellen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose love for her family and others was evident in everything she did.
Ellen found joy in the simple things in life. She loved quilting and sewing, visiting Gatlinburg, and decorating for every season and holiday. Ellen loved doing things for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She especially enjoyed playing Bunko with her church girls, followed by a meal and plenty of conversation at LongHorn Steakhouse.
Those who knew Ellen will remember her for her playful spirit, goofy sense of humor, and unforgettable personality. She was silly spirited and as her loved ones would surely agree, a handful in the very best way. Her laughter, love, and the memories she created will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew her.
Ellen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Joe Hinson, and her sister, Joan Wallace.
She is survived by her children, David (Melissa) Hinson, Gary (Kelly) Hinson, Lori Hinson, John Hinson, and Terri Hinson; her grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Hinson, Taylor (Abby Wheeler) Hinson, Nicole (Chirs) Hanie, McGreggor Hinson, and Murphy Hinson; and her great-grandchildren, Jaxon Pulliam, Piper Allen, Layla Hanie, Blaise Hinson, Rowan Hinson, Minnie Hinson. She also leaves behind numerous dear friends, loved ones, and her cherished church family.
Nannie’s love, laughter, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer be with us, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on for generations to come.
