Linda Gayle Merritt

Linda was the beloved wife of James Edward Merritt, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to Gary Edward Merritt (Jackie), Tammy Lynn Doss, and James “Jimmy” Franklin Merritt (Melissa).

She was a proud grandmother to Casey James Merritt (Allie), Marilyn Robin Merritt, Christopher Edward Doss (Sheena), Ashley Natasha Dickens (Steven), Kirsten Elizabeth Dickens, Megan Grace Merritt, and Ava Faith Merritt. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Faith Dickens, Steven Edward Dickens, Kamden Isaiah Dickens, Marshall Dwayne James Hodges, and Corbin Dale Welsh.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Earl Cannon (Ruth) and Jewel Moyers (Reed), and siblings Earl Cannon, Jr., Larry Moyers, and Donna Moyers. She is survived by her siblings Gloria Williams, Vicki Johnson, and Carolyn Hinton, along with several nieces and nephews and her precious dog Bella.

Linda was known for her loving and kind spirit. To know her was to love her. She enjoyed car racing, baking, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her intelligence, wit, and fun-loving personality.

There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Friday, May 8, at Hermitage Funeral Home from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Saturday, May 9, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. A Memorial Celebration of Linda's Life will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday in the Tulip Grove Room at the Funeral Home.
