

Charlene developed a strong work ethic at an early age assuming her first job at the early age of fourteen.She worked most of her career as a bookkeeper and was known as a strong, dedicated worker. She worked for many companies through her years; the most recent being Hobbs Equipment, from which she retired.
Charlene and her husband, Frank, built a simple life for themselves; but it was built around family - and that was worth everything. Charlene would work all day, then come home to the duties of a homemaker and cook, clean, and do laundry. She loved family gathering and especially loved to host the Thanksgiving meal.The most important part of her life and her greatest joy was "family".
Charlene is preceded in death by her father, Charles Mitchell Bauman; mother, Mary Bernice (McElyea) Bauman; sisters Eunice Petty and Sandra Jean Ciuffo; and her loving husband of sixty years, Frank Hargis.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hargis; son, Larry Hargis (Carmen Frazier); nieces, Angela Graves and Anne Shacklett; nephews, Michael Todd Marklin and Steve Bradford; great-nieces Sofia Marklin, Lin Neal, Evelyn Neal and Patty Beard; and great-nephews Todd Marklin, John Graves, Alex Graves and Kenny Neal. Charlene also leaves behind many extended loved ones and friends.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends at Hermitage Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM. This time of visitation will be followed by a Graveside Service at 3:00 PM at Hermitage Memorial Gardens in the Garden of the Cross.
