on February 25, 2021. She was born in Adolphus, Kentucky to Tommie and Delia Carter. She married Cecil A. Gilliam February 15, 1947, and the pair moved to Nashville shortly after the marriage. During her earlier life, she was a homemaker, caring for their two children and her husband. Once her children were older, she went to work for South Central Bell and spent 20 years in their service.
She was a loyal member of Hermitage United Methodist Church for over 55 years and was an enthusiastic volunteer there after her retirement. She is predeceased by her husband and both of her parents. She is survived by her children, Patricia Gilliam Daley and David T. (Connie) Gilliam. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, David M. Garton, Jr. and Christopher A. Gilliam, as well as one great-grandchild, Katelyn G. Garton.
Due to the pandemic, there will be only a graveside service, which will be limited to immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hermitage Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
