For forty years, Mrs. Gill was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Nashville where she was a faithful Sunday School Teacher of the Junior Girls’ Sunday School Class and the Children’s Music Leader. At the time of her passing, she was an active member of Hermitage Church of the Nazarene. She taught cake decorating in Metro Adult Education for many years and had her own catering business until the passing of her husband.
Mrs. Gill is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Wade and Lola (Hunt) Thomason; husband, Roy M. Gill; daughters Pamela Peyton and JoAnn Allsbrooks; son, Donald Wayne Gill; sister Ruby Thomason (Ensley); and brothers, Willie Wade Thomason, Jr., John Robert Thomason, Jimmy Lee Thomason, and Tom Thomason.
Mrs. Gill is survived by daughters, Susan (Rich) Wallace of Mount Juliet and LaDonna (Swaney) Powers of Franklin. She was a loving “Ganmama” to eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 5pm – 7pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home and on Monday, July 19th, 2021 from 11am – 12pm at the Hermitage Church of the Nazarene, 4151 Saundersville Road, Old Hickory, TN, in the Hendershot Chapel. A Celebration of Life will begin in Hendershot Chapel at 12pm. Interment will follow the Celebration of Life at 1pm at Hermitage Memorial Gardens in the Garden of the Cross.
Pallbearers include Rich Wallace, Swaney Powers, Mark Peyton, James Dowdy, Jared Dowdy, and Jack Vincent. Honorary pallbearers will be Carrie Knox, Pauline Harbin, Billy Ragland, and Joy Bradley (The Rowdys) and dear friend, Thomas Cayce.
Donations can be made in Mrs. Gill’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Alive Hospice. Fond memories, pictures, or expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Gill family by selection “Add a Memory” at the bottom of this page.
