

Departed this life September 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Athel Huffine. She was also preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Mary Slayden Ferebee as well as siblings, James Ferebee, Ida B. Parker, Ethel Asbury, Ruth Creek and William Ferebee.
She is survived by sisters Maude Mathis, Madison TN. and Anne Bennett, Knoxville, TN. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Sue graduated from Nashville General Hospital School of Nursing in 1941.
A true patriot, she was a veteran of the Army Nurse Corp in World War II. She was meritoriously decorated with the Bronze Star for her service in the European Theater of Operations, 45 Evacuation Hospital. Landing on the beach at Normandy, D-Day +10, she was among the first group of medical personnel to cross Europe and saw the liberation of several concentration camps.
Returning to the US after the war she continued to serve, working 35 years until her retirement at the Dupont Company in Old Hickory as an Occupational Health Nurse.
She was also a member of the Old Hickory United Methodist Church since 1950.
Mary Sue was loving to her family and steadfast in service to our country and her community. She will be remembered as a very capable person, smart, witty and always available to lend a helping hand. Her strong spirit and good advice will truly be missed.
Visitation Sunday September 9, 2012 from 4-7pm at the Hermitage Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday September 10, at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the Hermitage Funeral Home, Rev. Jay Voorhees officiating.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers
